CISV camps are about to start and for all the sugar-craving CISVers at those camps comes an easy (it really doesn’t get any more simple) to make basic-cake recipe for upcoming snack-times. Enjoy!

Basic (Fruit-) Cake

This basic cake recipe is easily prepared and serves as a basic for any kind of fruit cake. Great for snacks in the afternoon or as a dessert.


  • 1/8ml Water
  • 1/8ml Oil
  • 6 Eggs
  • 360g Sugar
  • 360g Flour
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder



  • Big bowls for mixing the ingredients
  • Whisk // Mixer
  • Deep Oven tray
  • Baking Paper

Good to know:

This cake is made without any milk products - so great for lactose intolerant participants.

The term "cake" has a long history. The word itself is of Viking origin, from the Old Norse word "kaka". (


Step 1
Preheat Oven to 175 C
Step 2
Mix Water, Oil and Eggs together (whisk it) in a big bowl
Step 3
In an extra bowl mix Flour and Baking Powder together
Step 4
Add the Sugar and Vanilla Sugar to the Water/Oil/Egg-Mix and mix it together
Step 5
Add the Flower and Baking Powder and mix it together
Step 6
Put Baking Paper on an oven tray and pour the dough on the (deep) oven plate
Step 7
Bake the dough in the oven at 175C for about 35-40 minutes
Step 8
Before baking you can add any kind of fruit on top of your cake (e.g. Apples, Pears, Cherries...)
