  • 2,5 Onions
  • 5 Celery Sticks
  • 5 Carrots
  • 5 Garlic Cloves
  • Herbs (2 Handfuls) (Thyme, Rosemary...)
  • 1kg Minced Beef
  • 3 Canned Tomatoes
  • 3 Canned Beans
  • Salt & Pepper (to season)
  • 1,5l Vegetarian Stock


  • 20 Potatoes (mashable)



  • Cutting boards
  • Knives
  • Deep Frying Pan
  • Cooking spoon
  • Deep Pot (for potatoes)
  • Oven Plates
  • Baking Paper

Good to know:

You can prepare the meat in advance and add the potatoes just half an hour before you want to have dinner /lunch.


The leftovers can be frozen and eaten later on in camp.

Interesting Facts:

A vegetarian version can be made using soya or other meat substitutes (like tofu or Quorn), or legumes such as lentils or chickpeas. (


Step 1
In case the minced beef is frozen, make sure to take it out of the freezer a couple of hours before you want to start cooking
Step 2
Chop onions, celery sticks, carrots and garlic into small pieces
Step 3
Preheat the oven to 180C
Step 4
Cover an oven plate with baking paper
Step 5
Fry onions, celery sticks, carrots, and garlic together on med-low heat
Step 6
Add handful of herbs (thyme, rosemary,..)
Step 7
When soft, add 400g mince beef
Step 8
When brown, add :
-tin of tomatoes
-tin of beans
-salt, pepper, small drops of worchester sauce
Step 9
Cook for 2 mins
Step 10
Add of vegetarian stock
Step 11
Cook for 10 mins

Boil potatoes
Step 13
Smash the potatoes
Step 14
Put meat in a tray and cover with potatoes
Step 15
Cook for 20 or 25 mins in oven at 180°
